Certification Requirements for Underwater Photography
Under the new rules, only divers who meet specific criteria are permitted to carry cameras during deep dives:
- Possession of an Advanced Open Water certification.
- Alternatively, a logbook at least 40 deep dives.
Divers must be prepared to present their certification or logbook upon request by authorities.
Guidelines for Snorkelers
To further protect coral reefs, snorkelers are required to maintain a minimum distance of two metres above the coral.This measure is designed to prevent accidental contact and damage to the reef structures.
Enforcement and Penalties
Dive operators, licensed instructors, and their assistants are empowered to immediately halt diving activities if participants fail to comply with the new regulations. Moreover, instructors and assistants who neglect to enforce these rules risk the revocation of their licenses.
Exemptions
The restrictions do not apply to diving activities conducted for:
- Academic research.
- Educational purposes.
- Marine conservation and restoration projects supervised by relevant authorities.
