Overview
Pawara is a steel-hulled Similan liveaboard that caters to recreational divers looking for an organised, comfortable dive trip in Thailand’s northern Andaman Sea. Operating 4-day and 5-day itineraries between October and May, the boat covers top sites including Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, and Richelieu Rock.
Accommodation & Boat Layout
The boat offers a mix of cabin types, from budget-friendly bunk-style cabins to deluxe sea view rooms. All guest cabins are air-conditioned and have en-suite bathrooms with hot showers. It’s worth noting that the boat accommodates a relatively high number of guests for its size—some staff cabins have been converted to guest cabins, so the crew sleep in common areas, which can add to the “full boat” feel during busy trips.
Despite the high capacity, the vessel is designed with functionality in mind: wide decks, indoor and outdoor dining areas, and a spacious dive platform that helps with gear storage and entry.
Diving Setup
Pawara is well equipped for Similan diving. Each diver has an assigned space for gear, and nitrox is available for certified divers. The boat uses dive tenders to reach drop points efficiently, and dive groups are typically kept small with experienced Thai and international dive guides. Underwater photographers will appreciate the dedicated rinse tanks and onboard charging space.
The dive schedule is fixed and runs in sync with its sister vessel, Sawasdee Fasai. Because of this, both boats often visit the same dive sites on the same days, leading to more divers in the water at a time—something to be aware of if you’re looking for quieter dives.
Food & Hospitality
Food aboard Pawara is consistently praised. Meals are served buffet-style with a mix of Thai and international dishes, and snacks are available throughout the day. The kitchen caters to dietary requirements with advance notice.
One of the stand-out features of Pawara is the warm and professional Thai hospitality. Many of the crew members have worked aboard for years, and their familiarity with the dive sites and dedication to guest experience are clear throughout the trip.
Who Is This Boat For?
Pawara is best suited to divers who prioritise structure, reliability, and Thai hospitality. It’s a good option for those who don’t mind a busy boat or shared dive sites in exchange for consistent service, decent food, and stable cruising. For those seeking privacy, luxury, or a quieter dive experience, a smaller liveaboard may be more appropriate.
