SY Cataleya

SY Cataleya
Destinations:

Mergui Archipelago Burma
Phi Phi Islands Thailand
Phang-Nga Bay
Southern Islands Thailand

With this spacious and comfortable sailing yacht, you are sure to enjoy a wonderful, relaxing vacation. Whether it’s a day trip or a longer sailing cruise, you are guaranteed to have an unforgettable time aboard this yacht. The name “Cataleya” actually comes from a beautiful genus of orchids. Our Cataleya is an 18 meters long and 8 meters wide sailing catamaran. The ship was designed and built by Derek Kelsall, who is renowned in the industry as a shipbuilder and designer of catamarans. In 2010 and 2011, we had the Cataleya professionally and extensively modernized. Compared to most other catamarans, the Cataleya actually floats very calmly on the water, thanks to its optimal length-to-width ratio. This means there is less rocking from side to side, and even the most sensitive guests find that they don’t experience much seasickness at all. The interior was designed to be particularly bright and comfortable. Every cabin has character, and they each have their own bathroom (with a toilet, wash basin, and shower). In 2010 and 2011, the Cataleya was given a general overhaul. The Cataleya is not only roomy, it also boasts a new, modern design, with bright and friendly colors both indoors and in the exterior areas. That’s why it stands out from other catamarans. The large, covered cockpit terrace allows a 360° panorama view. The Cataleya is also a floating 5-star restaurant. Our chef has many years of experience at high-end restaurants, hotels, and in the past few years, on charter ships. The meals she prepares are always a delight, and fruits and snacks are always available between meal times.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS:

These guys are the best! They're still out there discovering new dive sites!

"Ric and Clive are the real deal. They're dive masters that have worked together on the same boat for 7 years. A rare treat in a business where the typical guide is traveling through during or after uni for 1-2 seasons. After so many years, it is clear they like each other and work well together which creates a really fun and great atmosphere on their boats. In my mind, critical for a great liveaboard experience. They love to dive and want to have the best dive every dive. Since they're still guiding on boats, they know what's going on day by day and where the best spots are. On my liveaboard trip to Mynamar and Thailand, they constantly discussed the conditions and adjusted the schedule for the best spots for conditions. If all the other boats typically dive a spot in the morning, they'll come in the afternoon and go somewhere else in the morning to avoid diving with the dozen other boats. This was more the case in Thailand than in Mynamar where it was just us and the occasional sea gypsie. Myamar is fairly virgin diving territory and having a good guide is critical. They've been running up into the arcipelago for 7 years, one of the longest I imagine. They're still finding new sites out there sharing these rare gems with their customers! "
